Hydrogen plant in Gothenburg for increased production of renewables

The construction of a new hydrogen production plant at the refinery in Gothenburg for increased production of renewable fuels has begun. With the new plant, Preem will be able to increase its own renewable production to 200,000 cubic meters a year, making it possible to reach 500,000 cubic meters on an annual basis in early 2020.

Most sustainable in the fuel industry

Preem was named the most sustainable fuel company in the industry in the Sustainable Brand Index B2B study. The study examined what executive decision makers at the largest companies based in Sweden think about operators in nine different industries. In the business to business category, Preem is ranked first among all fuel companies and 13th of 74 companies overall.

Successful expansion into Norway

Preem expanded its operations to Norway during the year, with a new office in Oslo and a depot in Sandefjord. Sales grew rapidly, and by the end of the year Preem had a market share of over 10 percent on the Norwegian market, both through organic growth and through the acquisition of YX Bulk.

New tank for vacuum gas oil in Lysekil

Preem's refinery in Lysekil opened a new tank for vacuum gas oil (VGO) in January 2017. With the new 30,000 cubic meter tank, the facility in Lysekil can store VGO and supply it to the plants without mixing different grades in the same tank. VGO is an important raw material used in the production of gasoline and diesel. The investment amounts to approximately SEK 70 million.

ISCC certificate for sustainable biofuels

Preem has met the criteria for an International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) for sustainable biofuels. The certification further confirms that the company's products meet the requirements of the EU's directive on promoting the use of energy from renewable energy sources.

Tern Ocean reduces emissions significantly

Tern Ocean, an LNG-powered tanker, was put into service and is the most efficient, climate efficient tanker ship in use today. Compared to a conventional vessel, sulfur oxide emissions are reduced by 99 percent, nitrogen emissions by 97 percent, carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent and particulate emissions by 99 percent.

Sweden's greenest gasoline

Our renewable fuels are continuously being improved. When Preem Evolution Gasoline was launched in 2015, it contained 10 percent renewables. In July 2017, the renewable portion reached 16 percent, and Preem Evolution Gasoline became the greenest gasoline in the marketplace.
