Our society is built on modes of transport. They enable long-distance vacations and shorter distances that make everyday life possible. Freight transport contributes to trade and business, and work machinery basically builds our country. Emergency services take care of us when we need help, and the defense forces protect us in a crisis.
A fast route towards lower emissions
All transport produces climate emissions. By replacing fossil liquid fuels with renewable alternatives, emissions of fossil greenhouse gasses can be reduced already today. Biofuels are, therefore, a fast way to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the transport sector. In this way, biofuels enable continued travel and transport by road, sea and air – also in a more sustainable future.
Leading producers of biofuels
We are one of the largest producers of biofuels in Sweden, and we continue to grow. Our goal is, within a few years, to have doubled our production, and by 2035, we want to increase our annual production capacity to as much as 5 million cubic meters – the equivalent of Sweden's entire fuel needs for one year.
We develop, produce and sell biofuels to the Swedish market and abroad, mainly for road traffic. As production capacity increases, the offer is being extended to other sectors, such as shipping and aviation.
Converting the heaviest transports
Electrification is necessary to reduce emissions, and the pace of development is fast. Today's technology is best suited to lighter traffic. Therefore, biofuels play a key role in reducing emissions in heavy traffic, such as road freight transport, shipping and aviation. Here, biofuels play a crucial role in reducing fossil fuel emissions both today and in the foreseeable future.
A climate-neutral value chain by 2035
Preem supports the Paris Agreement and wants to limit global warming in line with science. Therefore, we are reducing emissions throughout our entire value chain: from extraction of raw materials to production, distribution and use of the products.
