The largest transition in the company's history

Towards a climate-neutral value chain by 2035.

2023 – production of HVO100

We are scaling up production of the renewable fuel HVO100 at the refinery in Gothenburg  approximately 350,000 cubic meters can be produced each year.

2023 – investment in renewable aviation fuel and HVO increases

Preem's most significant renewable investment is decided. SEK 5.5 billion is invested in the reconstruction of the refinery in Lysekil, and increases the annual production capacity of renewable aviation fuel and HVO by an additional 1.2 million cubic meters.

The plan is to open the plant in 2027.

2022 – decision taken to increase renewable production capacity

By converting the refinery in Lysekil, Preem's renewable production capacity will be increased to 1.5 million cubic meters. This is the largest renewable investment in the company's history.

Production is planned to start in 2024.

2021 – new climate goal

Our climate goal is being tightened by a full ten years. As early as 2035, the value chain will be climate-neutral.

2018 – renewable initiatives continue

We are initiating several partnerships to expand the renewable raw material base, including the partnership with Setra and the joint company Pyrocell, which in 2021 began production of Sweden's first pyrolysis oil from sawdust, adapted for the production of renewable diesel and gasoline.

2011 - Preem Evolution Diesel is launched

We launch Preem Evolution Diesel with partly renewable components, and in 2015 the equivalent for gasoline is launched, Preem Evolution Gasoline.

2007 – renewable production starts

In 2007, Preem invested in SunPine, Sweden´s first industrial production plant for input material for renewable diesel from forestry residues. The result was raw pine diesel, an innovation that is still of a high standard. Three years later, the first load of raw pine diesel was received at the refinery in Gothenburg.

2001

Our refineries in Gothenburg and Lysekil are modern and comply with current environmental standards for emissions.

Preem is founded in 1996

Preem is founded by businessman Mohammed H. Al Amoudi through the purchase and merging of Texaco stations and OK stations.

1967 – 1975

The refineries in Gothenburg and Lysekil are officially opened.
