Preem, then known as OK Petroleum, was owned until 1994 by the Swedish state, Neste OY and KF. The company was bought in 1994 by businessman Mohammed H. Al Amoudi.
Preem's founder Mohammed H. Al Amoudi also has interests in the construction group Midroc, Svenska Petroleum Exploration and a large number of properties in Sweden.
